NY-17 Phyrne was built for Henry L. Maxwell and owned by J.P. Morgan at two different times. Around 1927 she was shipped to Japan, and later used to smuggle her then owner's (John Drummond) family heirlooms, in a secret compartment behind the icebox, past Japanese customs agents when shipped back to Victoria, B.C. In the 1960's she was sailing in the Seattle area under a Marcoini rig, altered transom and cabin. In 1970's, while owned by David Hartford, she was accidentally dropped from a travel-lift in Port Townsend, WA and subsequently cut up in 1976.
